Following a 2-year research program to understand the experience of employees, line managers and employers Liz Morris publishes the Returning to Work Guides for Employers and Parents in collaboration with the NCT and Working Families.
1500 Working mothers, 200 line managers and 40 organisations were involved in the research. The key findings showed that a smooth return to work depends on
- a positive manager/employee relationship
- accessible and transparent practices and policies
- a supportive organisational culture
- preparation and planning that starts as soon as an employee is pregnant
The guides include case studies and best practices as well as handy tools that enable employers to retain and engage employees returning from maternity leave.
